A number of Bolton United Harriers athletes are collecting medals as though they’re going out of fashion. After so many superb performances at the Greater Manchester AA Championships, Amy Wilkinson, Tom Ruane, Josh Boaler, Alan Woods, Alex Vanderpuye, Josh Sabery, Robert Makin and Alex Cooper were invited to represent Greater Manchester County in the North West Regional Final at Robin Park last Sunday.
All the county teams produced a very high standard but our athletes were up for the challenge. In the U13’s Alex Cooper and Robert Makin both ran well in their races and then helped their teams achieve silver medal positions in their relays, Alex Vanderpuye gave a wonderful performance in the 6 lap wining the gold and then joined forces with Josh Sabery to get the silver medal position in the 8 lap parluf, whilst Alan woods who was up to his usual standard walked away with the bronze in the 2 lap and the silver in the standing long jump.
In the U15s Amy Wilkinson threw a P.B. of nearly 10m earning her the gold medal and then helped her team to achieve the bronze medal place in their relay. For the boys Tom Ruane did well coming 5th in the standing triple jump whilst Josh Boaler came 4th in the 4 lap and then performed a P.B. in the standing long jump with an impressive 2.67m., giving him the silver medal, both boys then went on to get the silver medal position in the 2 lap relay.
