On Sunday the Young Athletes League began and Bolton Harriers traveled to Stockport for their first match. Despite the weather the athletes turned out P.B.’s galore and won the match by over 70 points. Rick Lowe won man of the match field event for his superb triple jump whilst Callum Short won man of the match track event for a brilliant run in the U13’s 1500 and Michael O’donnell had everyone in awe when he cleared a massive 3.10m in the pole vault which is 60cm up on his previous P.B. then did a triple by going on to win the hammer and the javelin.
The U17’s girls team reigned supreme on the field winning all their events, whilst on the track Oriel Hardman and Michelle Derung were on form wining the 100m and the 800m. The U17 boys team had a fantastic day dominating both track and field which was mirrored by the U15 boys who won nearly every event they entered. The U15 girls carried on by producing a strong field team who again won most of their events. The U13s team also produced brilliant results with Robert Makin wining the hurdles and shot easily, Callum Short was backed up in the 1500 by new boy Jack Garmory who came in 2nd place and for the girls Georgia Taylor ran a brilliant 1200, with Rachael McMorran running a superb 75m finishing 1st.
Once again Bolton’s relay teams were out in force finishing the match in style and making it all look so easy.
