Sunday saw Bolton United Harriers host the second round of the YAL competition where Bolton won by over 80 points putting them top of the league. Again the U17s dominated the field events collecting P.B’s and high gradings along the way. Michael O’donnell was on form as usual with three wins, Lewis Coulton won the hurdles and long jump and came second in the discus with Tom Ruane backing him and coming first for the b team long jump and second in the triple. Chris Burgess and Tom Nuttall both took time out from the track due to injuries but still filled in on the field events gaining us points in the hammer, shot and discus. On the track Sam Gough ran his first ever 100m in 12s a new P.B. to add to his collection and Frazer Jardine, Rob Ashworth and Tom Carson are on brilliant form and are achieving new P.B.s at every match they attend. The U17 girls field team of Rebecca Makin, Sophie Kennedy, Olivia McGreevy, Hannah Darby and Hannah Scholes won every field whilst Michelle Derung achieved new P.B.s on the track with Becky Fordham and Samantha Griffin wining the 1500 A and B race.
For the U15’s Josh Boaler achieved grade 3 in both the 100 and 200 whilst team-mate Nawaz Hussain did the same in the hurdles, still on the track Ben Bailey, Alan Woods and Julian Tomlinson achieved new P.B.s and grades with new comer Raimi Salami doing his first ever pole vault and getting 1.90m. Jess Bateson was the only girl in the whole match to get a grade 2 with her impressive throw in the discus and then came first in the B team 200 and Lexi Cochrane
was back on form coming first in the 200 and second in the 100. Amy Wilkinson came first in the shot putt with a grade three then came second in both the hurdles and high jump, Becky Kay came second in all her events with new girls Anna Payton, Lydia Gaskell and Evie Webster all coming second and getting on the grading ladder in their events. In the U13s Callum Short was again on top form in the 1500 whilst newcomer Kane Tomlinson-weaver achieved a grade 3 in his first ever long jump, Rob Makin came an impressive first in the hurdles and then came in second place in his other two events, Jon Kay achieved a grade three in the 800 and grade four in the long jump whilst newcomers Elliott Fairclough and Simon Walker got grade fours in their events. For the girls another new comer Rachael Mcmorran came 1st in the 75m with a grade 3 and a time of 11s in the 75m. Georgia Taylor ran a brilliant 1200 coming first whilst Bryonny Mutton came first in the shot and second in the high jump with Molly Nuttall and Charlotte Darby coming second in their events.
