Nineteen Blue Vests completed the 4 mile loop of Haigh Hall this evening in the third CLGP fixture hosted by Wigan Phoenix. Tommy Harrison showed a clean pair of heels to the 266 field, winning by 12 seconds, whilst John Knowles was first veteran and fifth overall. Scott Crompton edged into the top 10 and, with Dom Gavin in twelfth, the race team collected 27 points – not enough to beat Leigh’s 19. For the A team (first 10 counters), Paul Mills showcased his continued improvement by finishing 21st and second M50, whilst M60 winner Ken Fowler bookended the group that saw the race result replicated – Bolton’s 269 eclipsed by Leigh’s 110.
The B Team was led by Liv Kearney, with Rachel Bailey and Cecilia Woods among the next 6 counters. Bolton maintain a slender lead in the veterans’ standings, but are now playing second fiddle to Burnden and Leigh in the other team tables.
