Red Rose XC Entry 2018

Tuesday, 11th September 2018

Info for the upcoming x-country season is below:

The rules and constitution can be found at the RRXC website (click HERE). READ THEM!! By participating, it is taken that you have read AND understood them.

This year’s events are:
Saturday 13th October @ Leigh
Saturday 10th November @ Bolton
Saturday 17th November @ Rossendale
Saturday 1st December @ Todmorden
Presentation night will be TBAth February next year

The races are for athletes aged 8 (on date of the race) to Senior. Lots of mud, lots of fun and a little bit competitive. More details about the series (particularly Bolton’s course) can be found by clicking HERE.

The FOUR races are £5 (that’s for all 4 – a bargain!!), but each race entered individually is £5 on the day…it’s a no brainer to register with Dean…see below!

You MUST enter via Dean Johnson (BUH&AC Team Manager). Register your details with him at the track on club nights or email him at RRXC@boltonunitedharriers.co.uk.

Entries are required by 30th SEPTEMBER. Then pay DEAN in OCTOBER when he has the bibs/race numbers. (Entries are available online but ONLY for/by team managers – DO NOT enter online individually as you will not count for BUH&AC).

The FOUR things Dean needs to know NOW are:
-Name
-Gender
-Date of Birth
-Age (on 31/8/yy for juniors, as of first race e.g. 14/10/yy for seniors) – see below
(yy = current year)

Age/Category determination rules: You must be aged at least 8yo to race…so if you are 7yo for the first three races and turn 8 before the final race, you can run in the final race only. A junior athlete’s category is taken from their age as of midnight 31st August / 1st Sept. i.e. If age 16yo on 31st Aug, you will be U17 despite the fact you may turn 17 before the first race. Senior/Veterans’ age is taken from the first race of the season competed in i.e. if you are aged 44 years at Leigh (first race), you will be V40 throughout despite a birthday after the first race.

Please also be advised that the FULL RULES can be seen at the RRXC website. If you think you will be in the mix for the prizes, then make sure you take the time to acquaint yourself with them as it is always disappointing when an athlete believes they have won a prize, but the rules say otherwise. Of note…”if a tie still remains at the totalling of points then the athlete with the lowest aggregate time of the FOUR races will be declared the winner. This will also apply to the team result as well. If neither athlete has run all four races and both have run the same three races, the winner shall be the athlete who has beaten the other twice.”

The club has again affiliated to the South East Lancs Cross Country League for the upcoming season.

The SELCC is a four-fixture series and provides additional opportunities for XC racing in the season, for all athletes aged above 8, particularly before the county schools and Northern XC Champs. Individuals and teams can now be counters for prizes, rather than ‘invited guests’.

U13 B & G 12.45
U15 B & G 13.00

Entry is a bargain £5 (same as RRXC) for the whole series (effectively three races), but you MUST pre-register via Paul Philbin (BUH&AC Team Manager). Thereafter it is £6 to race on the day. He simply needs your:
-Name
-Gender
-Date of Birth
-Email address

Your £5 entry is required by the deadline of 11th October. You can register your interest with him by email (see below) or at the XC noticeboard in the foyer at the track, besides the RRXC one. (Entries are available online but ONLY for/by team managers – DO NOT enter online individually as you will not count for BUH&AC).

Arrangements to collect race bibs from Paul will subsequently made, though you must keep them safe after each race (as per the RRXC) as a charge for replacement numbers will apply.

General rules are likely to be very similar as RRXC. If you think you will be in the mix for the prizes, then make sure you take the time to seek out and acquaint yourself with them as it is always disappointing when an athlete believes they have won a prize, but the rules say otherwise.

For more information (or to register your interest), contact Paul via SELCC@boltonunitedharriers.co.uk.
