Bolton’s Tommy Harrison claimed victory tonight in the second of the Horwich Jubilee race series that doubled as the fourth round of the CLGP. With Tony Valentine (M40) and Simon Dally (M45) winning their age categories and finishing in the top six, and Scott Crompton in tenth, the Blue Vests won the race team 20 points to Burnden RR’s 49.
Olivia Kearney led the women’s challenge, with Rachel Bailey bookending the A Team in very humid conditions that affected times – most down by a minute from last year’s event. Cecilia Woods was the sole counter for the B Team, which came on the back of her fantastic run in Sunday’s Freckleton Half Marathon, clocking 1:57:40 to win her F55 category and finish 194th of the 430 field. Although Bolton are still in contention for the A Team prize, the challenge to recapture the other series’ titles this season looks tricky with at this point.
BUH&AC times: Tommy Harrison 27:08; Anthony Valentine 27:26; Simon Dally 29:41; Scott Crompton 30:35; Dominic Gavin 31:16; Paul Mills 31:43; James Rideout 34:04; Peter Kearney 34:53; Olivia Kearney 37:52; Rachel Bailey 39:01; Cecilia Woods 41:21
Earlier, Toby Coop (6:08), Lily Philbin (6:30) and Sam Philbin (6:56) competed in the junior race.
Elsewhere, in the Manchester Mile Track Meeting, three Blue Vests competed over the various heats, the final positions being:
Karl Darcy 4:26.2 (5th)
Chris Pickford 5:14.93 (29th; M40 4th)
Ben Pickford 5:22.4 (MU15 3rd)
