Lostock 6M

Sunday, 25th February 2018

It was a Blue Vest 1-2-3 at the Lostock 6-miler, with other good results among the 342 field, not least 8 finishers in the top 21.

1 Jonothan Kay 29:57
2 Karl Darcy 30:01
3 Tommy Harrison 31:42
12 Dominic Gavin 35:12
14 Chris Povey 36:04
17 Christian Pickford 36:28
20 Lewis Aldred 36:49
21 Craig Kenny 36:56
71 Ken Fowler 41:38
236 David Jones 51:44

Karl Darcy and Jonny Kay enjoyed a great battle from the off with the pair building up a sizeable lead by the mile point. Karl edged ahead at the 3 mile point with Jonny having to dig deep in the last 2 miles to make up ground. The 6 mile race came down to a sprint finish with Jonny edging it by 4 seconds and in doing so, breaking 30 minutes, finishing in a time of 29:56 with Karl just missing the barrier with a 30.01 clocking – both pleasing performances for coach Dave Shaw.

Tommy Harrison then made it a Bolton 1-2-3, out-battling Leigh’s Neil Pendlebury in the closing stages to finish in 31:42. The finish from Harrison at the end of 6 miles bodes well for his upcoming half marathon at Wilmslow.

The good performances continued with the next finisher being Dom Gavin in 12th (35:12), followed by a flood of blue athletes, all coming in within a minute of each other with Chris Povey 14th (36:04), Chris Pickford (36:28), Lewis Aldred 20th (36:49) and Craig Kenny 21st (36:56). Ken Fowler was next home in 71st (41:38) with David Jones rounding off the team in 236th (51:44).
