The Bolton 5K has been taking place every February since 2011 as part of the Central Lancashire Grand Prix. The club has been working hard to put on the Bolton 5k in February 2026. Unfortunately, despite best efforts, the necessary help & resources to ensure a safe and high quality race are not available and with regret, we are unable to stage the Bolton 5k this year.
This is of course massively disappointing given the history & commitment we have given to the race over many years.
The race would normally have been the first race in the new CLGP series for the year. We have been in discussions with the CLGP and have agreed with them that despite not hosting an event in 2026, BUH will remain part of the CLGP series and our athletes can compete as normal.
This is not a long-term sustainable solution and the club/committee will be reviewing the issues faced this year with a view to seeing if it is feasible to reinstate the Bolton 5k from 2027.
